01. Where is Resolver used?

02. Resolver Lineup

Single Resolver

Mainly used for Cockpit Control System consisting of Side Stick, Throttle lever and Pedal.

Simple shape taking up less space for installation.

Can be designed to fit the mounting shape of customer’s systems.

With Gear

A Gear on shaft end

Variety of Gear sizes are available to detect positions of Flight Control System which has a wide range of mobility.

Tandem structure for redundancy makes the Units more reliable.

Original Gears which is designed to fit customer’s systems enable direct installation.

With Link arm

A Link arm on shaft end

Position sensors used for Flaps which operates extension and retraction.

Through the Link arm, every movements of the Flaps are transferred to the shaft of the Resolvers.

Detect the moving distance in perfect combination with Actuators.

With Gearbox

Sensor Units with integrated Gearbox

Gearbox decelerates the rotation of a shaft and transfers the movement of the system to Resolvers.

The Sensor Units is used for position detection of systems with high-speed rotation.

The Gear ratio can be adjusted to fit customer’s systems.

The design and production can be completed in house.

03. Built-in Resolver

Frameless / Pancake shape for easy integration

The structure of Built-in Resolvers are the same as Brushless Resolvers, which consists of Stator Transformer, Stator Core, Rotor Transformer and Rotor Core with each coil in place. These Resolvers have Hollow Shaft structure without bearing.
Working principal and basic characteristics are the same as Resolvers. Built-in Resolvers can be directly installed in the rotation shaft of various kinds of devices.
Built-in Resolvers have a small shape with the minimum necessary parts and save the space for installation. This simple structure and automatic winding technologies enable the affordable unit prices.

Built-in Resolver inside Motors

The Motor Units with integrated Built-in Resolver are used for Power Drive Unit of High Lift System. Resolvers can perform to the best of their potential for position detection with High Reliability and Environmental Resistance.
This coaxially arranged Built-in Resolver controls the movement of the Motor as feedback sensor.

VR (Variable Reluctance) Resolver

Tamagawa VR (Variable Reluctance) Resolvers of lead type and terminal pin type are widely used for automobile and industry applications for its high reliability and high robustness. Based on the experiences, these resolvers become popular for Aircraft applications. The fitting and electrical specifications can be customized based on standard models. Tamagawa airworthiness technologies enable the modifications of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product and this approach creates and gives lots of benefits to customers for cost, elimination of development risk and shorter lead time for development and production.
Cumulative global shipments of our VR Resolver will be reached 100 million units in 2021. It is expected to increase further with the market expansion of Electric Vehicle, etc.

04. Resolvers now on Mars!

Tamagawa Resolvers used for Mars rovers

Tamagawa High Precision Angular Sensors has been used for Explore Missions on Mars.
The design technologies and 80 year’s experiences of Resolvers are applicable not only for automobile and aircraft but also for SPACE. With high reliability and environmental resistance, Tamagawa Resolvers have worked at Space Station, etc for years.
