Food

Hachinohe is blessed with excellent fishing grounds, and the Hachinohe fishing port in particular boasts the largest catch of squid in Japan. Other local specialties include Hachinohe-maeoki mackerel, surf clam, sea urchin, and sea squirt. “Ichigo-ni," a soup containing sea urchin and abalone, is a well-known local dish. Kuraishi beef, horses, and local chicken (called Shamorokku) raised in the rich natural environment are also famous as the “three major meats” representing Hachinohe. Hachinohe has eight side streets called “Yokocho” where visitors can taste local sake and gastronomy on their way home from work.

You can taste Hachinohe's specialties Here!

Side Street called “Yokocho”

There are eight Yokocho stretching across the central area of Hachinohe City. A variety of stores of different genres, from old established to new ones, are gathered here, where you can enjoy the atmosphere as well as fine sake and foods. Small restaurants are densely packed, and rather than sitting down to a drink in one restaurant, the style of Yokocho is to pub-crawl.

Why don't you challenge to go on pub-crawl with "Hachinohe Yokocho Dungeon" map?
